こんにちは！VanWest College日本人カウンセラーのSaraです。 あっという間に夏が過ぎ、カナダはすっかり秋になりました。 これから美しい紅葉の季節が始まります！ さて今日は当校の人気コースの１つ、 English for Academic Purposes（EAP）についてご案内していきたいと思います。   EAPって何？ English for Academic Purposesは、英語圏のカレッジや大学に進学する方が必要とするアカデミック英語力を付けるコースです。伝えたいことを論理的に分かりやすく構成し書いたり話したりするトレーニングが出来るので、将来お仕事で英語を使いたい方にもおすすめのコースです。   生徒さんの声 実際にEAPを受講されたRyoさんがコースの感想を書いてくださいました＾＾ Q：一番面白かった授業はどんな内容でしたか？ EAP 200: 毎週宿題として課されるエッセイです。最初は書くのに苦労しましたが、丁寧に先生が指導してくれてライティングの基礎を学ぶことができました。毎週異なったスタイルのエッセイを書くのも面白かったです。 EAP 300: 一番はプレゼンです。毎週金曜行われるプレゼンですが、今まで英語でプレゼンをしたことがなかったので非常に苦労しました。ですが毎回的確なアドバイスをもらって、毎週少しずつ上達を感じることができました。また曜日ごとに割り振られている宿題も非常に為になったと思います。エッセイのアウトラインを宿題として作り、授業で決められた時間内にエッセイを書くといったものや、Ted Talk などの動画をみて 400 語程の感想をブログに書き込むといったものです。英語で書く力が非常に鍛えられたと思います。   Q：先生はどうでしたか？ EAP200: マリアはとても優しく、一人一人の英語にしっかり耳を傾け、素朴な疑問から全て一つ一つ丁寧に答えてくれました。教科書の内容は難しかったものの、マリアのおかげで問題なく授業に取り組むことができました。EAP300: デイブはマリアとは打って変わって、厳しい先生で話すスピードも早いので授業を理解するのにも非常に苦労しました。EAP200 とのギャップが大きく慣れるまで時間がかかりました。ですがしっかり取り組んだこと、よくできたことにはきちんと評価してくれ、悪いところは指摘してくれるので自分の成長と課題を感じることができました。   Q：今回の留学を今後にどう生かしたいですか？ EAP コースは内容がアカデミックなものになるので、教科書に出てくる単語、リーディング、文法も難しいです。EAP200 ではリーディングやリスニング、単語テストなどでそれらを理解する能力、EAP 300 では授業内エッセイ、ディスカッション、プレゼンなどで、自分の意見を論理的に主張するアウトプットの力が鍛えられたと思います。これらの学習は特に大学進学を目指す人に有効だと思いますし、これからカレッジプログラムを受講する私にとっても非常に役立ちました。   VanWest Collegeには一般英語以外にも、今回ご紹介したEAPのコースやBULATS（ビジネス英語）コース、IELTSの試験対策コースがあります。あなたの英語力やご留学の目的に合わせて、組み合わせ自由です！就学中にコースを変更することもできます！ ご質問などあれば、お気軽にお問い合わせ下さい。Read More
